CREATING A PATH TO FINANCIAL PEACE
Unfortunately, many people struggle to make financial ends meet. The average American household has $16,061 in credit card debt, and the average student loan balance is a whopping $49,042. As reported by Forbes Magazine early in 2016, 56% of Americans have less than $1,000 in their checking and savings accounts combined. In addition, studies indicate that a startling 70% of Americans across all income levels live paycheck to paycheck. Far too often, there is simply too much month left at the end of the money for many families. On the bright side, when people are empowered to handle their money God’s and Grandma’s ways, there is hope.
Successfully managing money is 80% about behavior and only 20% about head knowledge. Dave Ramsey’s “Financial Peace University” is a 9-week life-changing program that outlines how to change behavior around financial decisions by teaching what the Bible says about money. This video series empowers attendees with practical tools and an easy-to-follow money strategy that provide the confidence and control to set and achieve financial goals that result in true financial peace!
While building upon the things that households are already doing right, each of the nine weekly lessons covers a different topic to shift perspective about personal finance. Classes consist of dvd video teaching by internationally recognized personal finance guru Dave Ramsey, small group discussions and group accountability facilitated by local FPU graduates and success story Lisa & Mike Randall who have a Financial Peace testimony of their own. Attendees learn how to create money habits to save appropriately, eliminate and stay out of debt, create strong family relationships, communicate with creditors, shop more effectively, build a retirement nest egg, and experience the
joy of generosity!
Since its inception in 1994, FPU has helped more than 2.5 million families across the country positively change their financial futures. On average, families who complete FPU pay off $5,300 of debt and save $2,700 just in the first 90 days. After having taken the class, nearly 94 percent of those families budget regularly, and become debt-free besides their mortgage within 18-24 months.
